Not tea, father. KOHI!

And not just any coffee... FRESH PORTAL-POURED COFFEE.

NICE STATS

Jul. 17, 2008 | 10:22 PM gfoxcook responds:

But things are looking up. Thanks for stopping by, resident friendly neighborhood statwhore man!

NICE USERNAME (but then, I already told you that a couple weeks ago over at yer place, now didn't I)

Jul. 17, 2008 | 11:34 PM TarThoron says:

No need to repent your sins, the end is nowhere near.

I wonder which news post will get more comments over the course of the year. I noticed you disabled comments on the other. I think it was at 128.

Your music review stats still need some major work.

Jul. 18, 2008 | 10:40 PM gfoxcook responds:

Repenting sins is what Catholics do every damned mass, man. Why does it have to be Armageddon?! #;-}>

Technically, it reached 130, but if you subtract comment #38 (which I made myself) and comment #130, which I made myself, then 128 is the number of comments from non-gfoxy persons. (and minus Betty's, when the Betty account was deleted, also).

Hey, at least my music review responsecount is now "2" so "Music Review ResponseS:" is accurate. Otherwise, it'd look quite silly with a "1" next to it. #;-}>

FECK OFF!

Jul. 18, 2008 | 10:40 PM gfoxcook responds:

HELL NO, WE WON'T GO.

Jul. 18, 2008 | 11:48 AM Bahamut says:

I'd do one, but fuck it. I wasn't here on 17th July.

Jul. 18, 2008 | 10:41 PM gfoxcook responds:

But... you just did one. O_O 18th, 17th, whatever. This'll be open for 365 days, man. There be no rush.

Jul. 18, 2008 | 8:30 PM NEVR says:

I thought you weren't going to make a new news post, just update your old one? WHAT INSPIRED THE CHANGE OF MIND? It's pretty cool looking over how much your stats have changed over the past year, though. Kinda makes me wish I'd done one of these so that I could document my 'end-of-year' stats. :/

Jul. 18, 2008 | 10:44 PM gfoxcook responds:

Realising that if I never made a new newspost, there was never going to be a comment #36 again, or a comment #42... ;_;

So now, there can be a new #36 and #42... EVERY YEAR. Well, as long as you guys post at least 1 comment per week. #;-}>

Also, I thought to myself "what year will it be once I've posted 36 news posts" so long as NG + gfox are still both around?"... and.... well, it'll be 2042 when I hit 36 news posts on all three accounts.

FTW!

Jul. 19, 2008 | 5:08 PM Bahamut says:

But you'll have to go through being 37 years old before you make the 36th news post here. :P

Jul. 19, 2008 | 11:07 PM gfoxcook responds:

So? O_o I either live through age 37 or I don't.

Besides.... 37 isn't a black cat crossing my path. I love black kitties, anyway, and I never worry about that superstition. I'm an all-37-all-the-time-and-nothing-e lse kinda guy, when it comes to worrying about bad luck.

Now, if EXACTLY 37 black cats were hanging around me, I might start to worry. #;-}>

Jul. 20, 2008 | 12:54 PM LukeLovesLemonparty says:

You make a new news post without teh Lemonparty? Are you a fucking prick?

Jul. 20, 2008 | 4:17 PM gfoxcook responds:

There's SEKRIT LEMONPARTY encoded in that portal coffee picture, LLL. If you can't see it, you don't have the proper decoder.

OH MAH GAWD PORTALZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZ!

Jul. 20, 2008 | 4:20 PM gfoxcook responds:

OMG PORTALS is correct. PORTAL FTW.

... come to think of it, I really need to redo my "top 10 games" list in my profile's faves section. I included 5 console games and 5 classic (i.e. early 90s) PC games, but TF2 and HL1/HL2 and Portal... or just "Orange Box" really needs a mention. Plus Bioshock. and... OMG. :::head explodes due to not enough room in a top 10 list for all the awesome console + PC games... need separate top 10s... STAT:::

Jul. 20, 2008 | 4:25 PM Fro says:

I got one of those keyboards that you were talking about with the hot keys. I can set up to 10 different hot keys with it. It really kicks ass because there are so many times that I have to say the same thing over and over.

Jul. 20, 2008 | 4:30 PM gfoxcook responds:

Awesome! Glad I inspired you to find something practically useful for you. I never see things like "10 hot keys" advertised on the little placards next to every keyboard at say a Best Buy, but I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that such macro-ful keyboards are still out there.

Oh wait, though. By hot key do you mean like the "pictures" button and the "documents" button, and the "media player" button? Because those are some of the buttons I was referring to when talking about how all new keyboards do seem to contain media center sections and all. And yeah, usually Microsoft or Logitech (or whoever) does let you change what those buttons do (but then you've got remember that the button with the musical note on it does "ctrl-alt-delete" #;-}>).

But I didn't know those things would let you do long strings of text, I thought it was just generally simple windows functions, launching a single application, or doing any simple keypress (i.e. any key, or any key in combo with alt/shift/ctrl).

But if you found one that does (or they all do and I'm just clueless, either way)... WTG!

Jul. 20, 2008 | 8:32 PM Fro says:

Well it's just one that has the keys like the back button, home, pictures, etc.. but you can set them for strings of text too. I haven't found use for all of them yet, but I'm sure I will eventually.

Jul. 25, 2008 | 9:52 PM TarThoron says:

I wasn't gonna double post, but then I got high...

Sorry, IIRC I had some connection error when I hit "Leave it!"

So in what little spare time I've had lately, I've been playing FFX-2. I've only got about 3 hours of recorded playtime in so far (dieing without saving doesn't count), but it seems fun. I like that you can go anywhere right away, though it has caused me to get in over my head a couple times...and I've just remembered that the X-2 convos on RG were between Pure and Recon, not Pure and you, so I'll not go into further detail (unless you ask). Ever get around to finishing FFX?

Jul. 26, 2008 | 12:02 AM gfoxcook responds:

Oh, really? Cause yeah, I thought it was an intentional double-comment, I never woulda guessed it was an error. #;-}>

YOU CAN GO ANYWHERE IN THE WHOLE FREAKING WORLD IN FFX-2 RIGHT AWAY? Holy crap that is so wrong. #;-}>

I have X-2, but I never finished X, so I haven't played X-2 as a result.

Yep, I was only involved in teh X and XII convos as a result of that.

Still no stickers?

Jul. 27, 2008 | 5:11 PM gfoxcook responds:

Ah, my good friend EKR. As I told someone in my RD1 (redesign year 1) newspost's comments/responses, I got 5 free stickers along with a t-shirt from Tom Fulp back when I was a mod along with all the other mods at the time, and I'm not that bit of a "sticker person," so no... still no paid-for stickers in my profile. If there was ever some "package deal" in the NG store with stickers + shit I really wanted... maybe then. But that's one stat I don't care to pad just for padding's sake. (GASP, I know) #;-}>

Aug. 3, 2008 | 10:28 AM GUITARHEROBEAST says:

OMG your stats are amazing but you must get on here like everyday of your life.....

Aug. 3, 2008 | 8:02 PM gfoxcook responds:

Thanks.

Yep. Been here for 11,000+ straight days and counting. NG sure has been amazing ever since I was born in 1977!

But you know what's strange?

I've been using NG every damned day of my life, just like you said... only I was born a few months before Tom Fulp was born... how weird is THAT, eh? O_O

Aug. 12, 2008 | 12:27 AM Evark says:

Ha ha, well isn't that awesome. I don't care who gets comment #36, I've got 29 and that's MY favorite number.

Anyway, how's life treatin' you? Good to see you're still kickin' it around here, though your whistle should really match your aura... (get a garbage whistle, damnit) : b

You're done with level 43? That's my next favorite level, once I've passed this kickass chainsaw. After that it's 56 or bust. Likely bust, but there's a chance I'll hit 56 before I lose interest in depositing. One can only hope.

Aug. 12, 2008 | 1:18 AM gfoxcook responds:

Congrats on the 29, then!

Hey, there was a brief moment when the whistles were introduced and I saw the lovely green colour of the garbage whistle... that was back in June 2003, mind... and I was envious. Then I noted the cracked appearance of said whistle, and that together with the lame status it denoted dissuaded me from wanting to have it. I was quite happy with normal for 2 days, silver for years, and then deity after the whistle system change. #;-}>

43 was good, yep. 56, eh? 56 is one of the last few ones before the "final suck level icons," I know, but 55's the one for me. Either way, good luck to us both, yes. Thanks for dropping by!

[edit: Sorry, dude... it's comment #28 now, thanks to that spam account that posted here a day before you did now being being deleted... and its comment here deleted along with it... ;_;]

Aug. 12, 2008 | 11:53 AM NewsReporter says:

What's so interesting about the number 36?

Aug. 12, 2008 | 8:31 PM gfoxcook responds:

Nothing you would understand, most likely. But trust me... it's far more than "just" interesting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36_(
number)

The above doesn't show ALL the cool things about 36, but it shows the basic cool things about it. The rest... are just things unique to me as an individual, and perhaps a few other mega-36 fans, and... again, you probably wouldn't care to know those... things... yes. But to sum them up:

6 is my favourite single digit number. 6 squared is 36. It's hip to be square (you do the math, eh?)...

Aug. 13, 2008 | 3:15 AM Evark says:

It's ok, I can just spam a response and average the 29th comment.

Aug. 14, 2008 | 10:38 PM gfoxcook responds:

Or, if you prefer, I could delete your first comment and this one would be #29.

Eh, it was #29 when you made what is now #28, and that's what matters, "in spirit." #;-}>

Aug. 15, 2008 | 12:15 PM Ghyfty says:

Wow, you been here since 00. I wonder why you're not in the gold levels like Pimp? Well at lease you got Deity and Sup. Commander.

Aug. 15, 2008 | 12:17 PM gfoxcook responds:

Because I deposited on only 90 days between 2000 and the end of 2002. It is... my greatest sin.

Aug. 15, 2008 | 12:18 PM Ghyfty says:

So tell me, how many years does it take to get Deity and Sup. Commander for an 08'er?

Aug. 15, 2008 | 12:29 PM gfoxcook responds:

No idea on the whistle. I was a silver whistle from the very beginning, due to much whistling and review flagging before June 2003 (when the whistle system began)... and the whistle system had a huge change in 2005 or 2006, not sure when exactly, and so many of us high-silvers jumped to deity. Just a totally different scale now, so no idea there.

Supreme Commander? Well, it depends on how much you're going to use the portal. I had 0 saves and 0 blams at the start of 2003. I started gaining them around Jan 5th 2003. I hit 30,000/EGSC on March 4th, 2004, approximately 14 months later.

My pace was not as high as some. You could get EGSC anywhere between... say... 10 months... and 2 years... if you're a good paced NG statwhore. Or it could take forever if you don't gain many blams or saves. #;-}>

Just deposit your exp every day, that's the main thing. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE. Keep your days deposited/days of account existence ratio as close to 100% as you can.

Mine used to be under 10%, and now it's 70%. But it's taken 5 years of work to get it up there. And it'll never be close to 100%, even when I hit the top ... eh, top 25 exp, let's say. (I should be #5 in exp right now, if I had 95%+ deposits instead of ~70%)

Aug. 15, 2008 | 12:40 PM Ghyfty says:

You said something about a ratio? (Sorry I'm slow)

Aug. 15, 2008 | 12:48 PM gfoxcook responds:

My ratio (from http://nglog.denvish.net/browse.p hp?id=127 <---NGlog will calculate it for you automatically every day if you want it to) is:

Deposit rate: 68.46% (this means I have deposited nearly 70% of the days possible since creating my account)

Your ratio can be found from the following two bits of info from your profile:

Sign-Up Date: 2/7/08
Exp. Points: 530 / 550

53 deposits / 191 days since you created your account = 27.75% deposit rate

Yours right now after a few months of account existence... is far better/higher than mine was on January 1st, 2003 after nearly 3 years of account existence (90 deposits / 1045 days = 8.61%). So it's not too late to fix it/increase it. Stop missing deposits, if you don't want to miss out on those golden Pimp levels. #;-}>

While I would have preferred a random Wi/Ht?er picked up #36 like happened last year (with NEVR accidentally snagging it), I noticed that my back and forth was spiraling ever closer to the mark, so I had to go ahead and snag it myself to make it... count, as it were.

BUT I KNEW THERE WAS A RISK. A HIGH RISK OF IMMEDIATE PASSAGE OF THE HOLY MARK AND CARRY OVER INTO THE UNHOLY LANDS. Fortunately, I already discovered the counterbalance to this technique LAST YEAR, and I shall employ it once again.

Aug. 16, 2008 | 7:04 AM Ghyfty says:

Wow, you like to type a lot do you?

Aug. 16, 2008 | 6:27 PM gfoxcook responds:

I type 100+ wpm. Whether the fact that I type at that speed allows me to type a lot and so I just DO...... or whether I like to type a lot, and being able to type quickly encourages that fetish...

... is a condundrum that not even I am 100% sure about. As much as I DO type a lot, it ends up wasting a ton of my time when I'm not concise on NG BBS, say (which I don't enjoy very much, and ends up causing me to stay away from long threads therein for days or weeks at a time, causing me to spend more time catching up when I finally do try to catch up there).... and wasting my own time (unless I'm in the mood for killing time) I DO NOT LIKE.

But every human has a little masochist (and sadist) inside them... and that probably has something to do with it.

But anyway, you asked me to explain the "ratio" I spoke of. And it's not exactly something you can explain fully in one sentence. After all, my prior long-ass reply to you had left you going "huh?" and if I'd just said "it's how many days you've deposited divided by how many days your account has existed," you likely would have still not gotten the point/understood its importance.

Whether you do even now... is another matter for another day. Ta!

256.

I doubt your news post comment count will get that high any time soon.

Aug. 20, 2008 | 7:50 PM gfoxcook responds:

Well, if you add RD yr 1's comments to RD yr 2's comments, it should definitely hit 256 by mid-2009.

But as for an individual news post's comments count... yeah, not likely. Still, I had more comments on this year's post in the first month of its creation (just a few days ago marked that event).... than I did in around 6 months after last year's posting.

So... eh. It's up to youse guys, of course. #;-}>

67.2% is not embarassing, man. If it is, then what's my 62.x%? (yeah, I've been on a losing streak lately + not answering every poll... been going on it maybe 1-2 times a month as of late).

Well, they're expecting the power to go out for everyone here in Texas from much of the coastline... all the way up to I-20 (a straight West-East highway running through Dallas/Ft. Worth up north near the top border of Texas with Oklahoma).

So... my planned catchups for NG BBS... have been trashed by Hurricane Ike.

That said, my gf and I are safe and sound in our SW-facing-windowed 2nd floor apartment, car's in a 2nd floor garage. Wish us well, but wish the far more pitiable folks nearer to the coastline than us and stuck on first floors... even more well.

And uh... yeah. I'll see ya when I see ya. :::waves:::

Weird is the new "cool," man.

...

Anyone wondering if I lived through Hurricane Ike.... yeah, I did. No worries, I ain't a zombie or nothin'.

My apartment's power supply wasn't so lucky, however. It started flickering Friday night around 9:30PM (about... 45 minutes after the above comment I posted that night)... kept dipping or going out for a second or two on and off for the next few hours. It bravely kept our A/C and fridge and lights on... for many hours, however.

Finally... gave up the ghost... and ceased functioning at at 1:52AM, just 15 minutes or so before the eye of the hurricane came ashore down at Galveston.

42+ hours without power and counting... if we go past 60 hours without power, I'll start to regret living through this. Sleeping in still air, no breeze through the windows, at 82 degrees Fahrenheit... was not fun last night. ;_; But the weather forecast says it'll be more like 81 during the days and 65 during the nights for the next 48 hours, so... that's tolerable.

(I'm typing this at my parents' house 40 miles west of Houston, but I'm heading back into the "dead zone" in a few minutes to pick up my gf from work at the police department downtown, and then head back to our apartment in the Medical Center)

Dunno when I'll next be able to get back on NG. See yas, folks. Wish me luck.

My point was that it was psychological warfare from Ike that I had endured, more than physical warfare (though the physical discomfort of sleeping in a hot, sticky, sweaty mess with windows open, no breeze, and one tiny little battery-powered fan (which we didn't get until after the first night, which was the worst of the 6 nights)... that's some physical warfare, too)... and since you were offering me some additional "psychological warfare" on top of that, I had to take a pass.

So how are you this week?

Oct. 5, 2008 | 7:13 PM gfoxcook responds:

I am... beh.

My apartment's parking garage is being repaired, so everyone in the complex is fighting for spaces for the next 1-2 weeks.

My Astros didn't make the playoffs and the Texans just had the worst "give up a sure win" game since the Oilers dropped a playoff classic to the Bills in the early 90s (though at least the Cubs got swept out of the playoffs and the Yankees never made it in, so... baseball wise, I'm happy... and I ain't that much of an American football fan).

And finally, disc 1 of my 4 CD Planescape Torment game has a break in it (only about an inch break, but enough to make the game uninstallable on the desktop AND the laptop, and can't copy all the files over, either... most of them make it, 3 are damaged beyond repair by the crack).

On the upside (for your purposes), I started catching up yesterday, and that shall continue this afternoon in a moment.

Oct. 5, 2008 | 8:20 PM WavyGravy says:

Good to see you've overcome Hurrican Ike. From what I gathered, your apartment block is still in a bit disarray. I guess this is one of those "bumps" in life.

Take care man, and whats your steam in-game name btw? My alias is "Hobo on Fire!".

I hope Hurricane ike hasn't dampened your spirits!

Oct. 5, 2008 | 8:27 PM gfoxcook responds:

Yeah, the garage had tons of cars in it due to people being scared of their car flooding out in the parking lot itself, and as a result of too many people with SUPER HEAVY SUVs driving all over it and parking all over it, there's a few spots in the garage now with crumbling pavement/structure. (sigh)

Steam name is gfoxcook, of course.

BTW, if you're planning to add me as a friend on Steam, better hurry up. I fluctuate between 145 and the max 150 friends, and IIRC I'm at 149 right now. HURRY! ACT NOW. #;-}>

Soon, my master, I shall surpass your powers!

Oct. 29, 2008 | 6:08 PM gfoxcook responds:

A) I thought we long ago established that unless a monthly Clock Day was instituted, I ain't making it to 36k before you pass me in saves.

B) I don't care about overall b/p rank anymore than I care about blamrank all that much and you know it, sir!

C) Well, one thing you don't have to wait to pass me in is "your/you're" mistakes. Dude, that's your second one since summer. YOUR BRAIN IS TEH BROKENS. ;_;

Never to late to start. So yeah, you should definitely do something cool for an NG anniversary.

I would start doing that myself on my anniversaries if it wasn't for the fact I'm already doing something cool every year on the redesign's anniversary, and I don't want things to get TOO confusing and pointless (also, I'm way more likely to forget it's 2/18 than forget it's 7/17). #;-}>

Oh, and BTW, the missed deposits on my accounts a few weeks ago were a combination of by accident and on purpose.

As often happens, I missed a deposit on all 3 one day by accident, but I then missed various amounts on the two alts to get the last two digits to make some sort of "sense" to my brain so that I easily can see if I've deposited on all three on any given day without having to check NG log. Yar.

Anywho, I was gonna go on and say merry christmas and bye to you and any one else on, but I decided it'd just be a lot easier (read: faster) to leave a couple profile comments and then JET. #;-}> As you can see from the time differences, we were trying to get outta town for 2-3 hours. We got to a grocery store near my parents' place 200 miles from here at 7:10PM and it was closing at 8:00PM due to it being Christmas Eve and all, and we got one of the last 2 pork shoulders to do a roast on Christmas Day (and all the other ingredients needed), so we barely left town as it was. Whew.

ANYWHO. Happy (late) Boxing Day!... well, cept for those in Hawaii and Alaska, I think, for whom it's not late (yet). #;-}>

i dont get why you go through the trouble getting all this info, and not just for yourself but for 100's other people, its not easy info to get is it? if it is you must tell me how because id love to see all my stats which you have listed but i wouldnt go through loads of trouble to get them....prob just cuz im lazy :D still its pretty cool i guess just its also pretty pointless!!

Feb. 5, 2009 | 12:32 AM gfoxcook responds:

up to "getting all this info," I thought you were talking about the stats in my news post, which is what you're replying to, technically, after all... and those stats are either directly from my profile (back on last July 17th), from using a calculator on numbers directly from my profile on that date, or... from NGlog back on that date as well.

All three of those sources of info took hardly any work at all, and I'd say that once a year, on the anniversary of NG's rebirth, I spend about 15 minutes or so making the new stat anniversary posts for all THREE of my accounts, not just this one, then posting them all in a minute or two. So it's really not that much trouble.

But then you say "for 100s of other people," and now I have no idea what "info" you're referring to. If you mean any of my lists, I haven't been running any lists for about a year now, so... it's a bit of a moot point.

I think you need to go here, since I searched the users page and there is no "kris008" on it. Though there is a "kris" (presumably the reason for your 008) and a "KristaX"... go here and log your data and boom, there's all your stats any day you want them:

I must say, I was slightly dissapointed. The album is a bit boring in my opinion. Get on your Boots is like the only song that is a little bit rough, the rest is all just soft pop rock.

Mar. 8, 2009 | 12:25 PM gfoxcook says:

gfox's slapdash U2 - NLOTH assessment for Auz:

01) awesome opening, though not as Zoo Stationy as I woulda liked after reading a review that compared the two... Another review said they thought it was some indie band, not U2. heh.
02) great, great song. I heard this on Letterman Tuesday night before I got the album on Thursday, and I liked it on the first listen, even live.
03) pretty good, a bit long.
04) weird computer/cellphone/etc.-related lyrics, Bono... but good music, and a great 1 minute guitar solo by the Edge at the end (he never does long solos! amazing!)
05) I like parts of it, kinda a mixed song.
06) egad, why was this the first single? It's... not so good. Especially lyrics-wise. Music's not so special either. Some review compared this to Muse? WTF? Anyway, makes Vertigo look like a brilliant first single by comparison, at least.
07) Okay considering the title is so stupid.
08) Awesome song, which I was expecting thanks to your own 1+2+8 review. #;-}>
09) Eh... kinda boring. U2 made slow soft songs a lot better back in the 1987-1993 period (from Joshua Tree's slow ones to the great Stay (Faraway So Close) on Zooropa).
10) Breathe is amazingly awesome. I love the cello, also. Great addition to the song.... it's up there between Breathe at #10 and Magnificent in the 2 slot... as to my fave. Hard to choose, both so great. Breathe, as I mentioned up a page here, was on Letterman on Monday night. Great choice to lead a 5 song week-long Letterman "set" with Breathe and Magnificent... which again makes one wonder why they didn't make those two their lead two singles as well. O_o
11) Doesn't remind me that much of the Wanderer as one review had said, but it's definitely a good album closer and has interesting lyrics for experimental lyrics (most of the other "experimental lyrics" songs on this album kinda failed for me, such as tracks 4 and 6 most noteably...).

So, on the whole, the only song I don't really enjoy at all is #6, and parts of #4, 5, 7, 9 don't appeal to me much. Which leaves tracks 1, 2, 3, 8, 10, 11, and part of track 4 as the part of the album I really love. That's a pretty decent 6.5 songs out of 11, which blows most bands outta the water (only exceptions for me recently are the Killers and Muse, say)... in short, U2 isn't making albums as good as some young bands, but they're only a few steps behind them lately, and for a band as old as I am (31ish), that's impressive. Well done, guys.

They're nifty, but I don't play games on Steam just for achievements, nor will I play games on NG just for medals. The game's gotta be fun. Still, I played Mastermind WC when it came out quite a lot, and it had no medals, so... again, not really a cause and effect thing for the most part, once the novelty's gone. Which... it is.

Mar. 22, 2009 | 6:35 AM gfoxcook responds:

As I think I've told you before on Steam (maybe one of those times you were drunk O_o), I have Steam set to be in offline mode by default. If I'm playing 1P games I almost always leave it offline when I come on, and if I log off without ever coming on to pop up and see if anyone's around, then it'll show when I logged off even though I was never shown as logged on.

Like I said that time, if I play MP, I tend to go into online mode, if I play SP, I tend to stay in my default offline mode, though there's exceptions to both rules!

Oh, also... I've noticed that even if I leave Steam on for days... sometimes it'll say "last online: some short time ago" even though I didn't log off at that time. Steam can be screwy sometimes. O_o

Mar. 20, 2009 | 8:14 AM Auz says:

After listening to the album a bit more, I think Breath is indeed a pretty good song now. I agree it would´ve made a much better first single. I wouldn´t put it up as my favorite however. That´ll be Fez - Being Born. It sounds a bit like a mixture between Zooropa (especially the intro part) and The Unforgettable Fire to me. Two of my favorite U2 songs.

After Fez comes the title song (which doesn´t sound zoostationish at all imo =/) and then comes Breathe, followed by Magnificent.

So to make a short list for my faves of this album:
1) Fez - Being Born
2) No Line on the Horizon
3) Breathe
4) Magnificent

The rest is still kinda .. mediocre to me. But maybe I´ll start liking it more if I listen to it more often. That´s usually the case with U2.

But anyway, did you manage to get tickets for their 360° tour this summer? My dad managed to buy some EU33 tickets for EU100, and gave them to me and my gf for free :p Pretty sweet.

Mar. 22, 2009 | 6:38 AM gfoxcook responds:

Your top 4 is my top 4, yep. Just a different ordering of the 4, but they're definitely heads and shoulders above the rest. Tracks #3 and #4 are pretty good, too, though. Kinda the middle, and then the rest at the bottom for the most part.

I went to U2 shows in 97 and 01 and I missed out on the Vertigo tour in 04 or 05 or whenever it was. My gf's never been to a U2 show even though she's been a fan since at least 00, so I'd love to take her, but we'll see how it goes. I heard they're doing one swing through the US in 2009, and then another in 2010, so I may have two chances, too... so... might wait till the 2nd time through. Happy for you, though! Make sure to let me know here on my profile how the show went, which songs the played, whatever you remember. #;-}>

I didn't reply to your greetings because I didn't see them/didn't know it was you. Are you talking about a Steam IM during the game, or just a "say" message in-game, in TF2 itself? o_O

I dunno what you mean by unknown 2fort. I play on a 24/7 2fort party server with lo-grav a lot lately, and I play on 2fort2furious, which really doesn't have anything to do with 2fort, though it does have the map in rotation every now and then. o_o

Ah, sorry about the confusion gfox. It was most certainly you since for one, I know no other who have a gravity-defying coffee shot as their icon. ;-)

I did message you in-game but perhaps you missed it in the total tenacity of that game. I've forgotten the server's name but yes, I do highly recall the low-gravity modification.

See you in-game at another time and I'll properly introduced myself next time. ;-)

Yeah, look me up again, or just join that server now and then. When I haven't played 2fort too much lately, I tend to go there (as I think 2fort + lo-grav is the ultimate way to play 2fort).

May. 16, 2009 | 1:25 PM gfoxcook responds:

And that's the way it should be. But very similar to decades, where technically 1980 is part of the 70s, and 1990 part of the 80s (if you don't know what I mean, remember that there is no year "0" and that the first year AD was 1, so 1-10, 11-20, etc. are the decades....

I feel that the 40s truly start at 41. The icons for 41-42-43-44-45 are so fucking excellent, and it's not like there's a ton of drop off at 46-47... etc., either. And even when some of the 47+ ones fail to impress, they're still golden and elite, so... can't complain too much, unlike with old level 23 lollipop, at least.

SO, congrats on level 40, but the main thing is you're one step away from the great 41-45 chain beginning for you. GODSPEED!

it depends on the situation. If you're asking why did I tell him I was purple instead of say... green... I was trying to go with the non-obvious answer. #;-}>

But most of the time, yes, green > all else. For skin colour, I don't... believe I'd choose to be green if I could, though. Too many Martian stereotypes. O_o

May. 13, 2009 | 10:50 PM iscrulz says:

I need to go fap to the Lincoln's Repeater. If they don't go down I will mow them with teh Vengeance.

Hey I am level 45 look at me. </Bahammy boy>

Thirdly listen to Edguy and love it.

May. 16, 2009 | 1:29 PM gfoxcook responds:

1) Man, I need to get both of those guns. I don't have very many "unique" guns in Fallout 3 at all, I'm still pretty much using standard weapons (but a nice range of them, and most in full condition thanks to my 100 repair + scavanging of spare weapons for spare parts, and my hoarding in my Megaton house's lockers).

I WANTS ME MY LINCOLN'S REPEATER. I can't remember much about the Vengeance, except I've read about it, too, and it sounds good.

2) Level 45 in Fallout3 or on NG? LOL. YOU BROKE FALLOUT3, MAN! Though I've heard the level 20 cap is removed in one of the DLC expansion packs. I won't even worry about those until I beat the game, of course.

Anyway, on second thought (well, really just looking at your profile): congrats on level 45! Great level icon, enjoy it, though I don't really like it with blue... oh, and great pipboy profile icon + "Age/Gender: 18, Male / Location: Capital Wasteland / Job: Adventurer" personal info.

3) Lastly, what is Edguy?

May. 16, 2009 | 2:08 PM darknessdweller says:

OK GFOXCOOK. So you don;t have MSN. I get it now.
And the internet had IM'ing before 12-28-1995? :D I bet it took liek, 3 minutes to send or recieve a message then. :P
And... I've been IM'ing since June 2008. (GO MEEBO!) And PM'ing on Newgrounds since October 2007. Before August 2007, I HATED going online cuz dial-up sux dirty ass!! Which means I once had a life! :D

And I know well enough to check ppl's profiles.
But on meebo, I join group chats, and ask ASL? .

And to Bahamut:
Fuck you, you fucking fuck fuck. Get over your fucking self, and stop hatin. When the hell are you gonna stop being mad at me for one little thing that happened about 3 months ago!?

That is all, your honor.

May. 16, 2009 | 4:34 PM gfoxcook responds:

I first went online in the summer of 1994. And yes, both dial-up AOL and Prodigy, which I used for the first year of being online, before I went to college in 1995 and got a nice ETHERNET connection on campus..... had instant messaging. Actually, PIM started while I was there, in 94, but AIM was around before I joined in 1994, maybe as long as 1992 or 1993, not sure. And no, it didn't take 3 minutes to send or receive messages, IMing was the same speed then as now. Text is text, man. It's no big deal. You couldn't send pictures or sound or videos with your IMs, though, back at the start.

As for Bahamut not getting over something that happened 3 months ago: People have long memories, man. If you haven't learned that by now, you will... sooner or later. You will be held accountable for your actions, behaviours, and words. And it is very rare that you will find a person with both forgiveness AND forgetfulness, so... don't count on it.

In short, my main point to you in my responses to your silliness was that ASL type stuff is fine on chat rooms, but this ain't no chat room, man. When in Rome... do as the Romans do.

DRAGON ORGIES

And now that I have your attention, gfox has an announcement to make...

May. 17, 2009 | 1:14 PM gfoxcook responds:

thanks, Bahamut. (ahem)...

May. 17, 2009 | 1:19 PM gfoxcook says:

As of last Thursday, May 14th, 2009 (which also happened to be our 9th anniversary as a couple), my now-former-girlfriend and myself are engaged!

We've long planned to marry on our 10th anniversary, i.e. Friday May 15th, 2010, but more recently I decided to officially propose 1 year to the day beforehand. Danielle isn't much for fancy rings and jewelry, but she does like wearing some silver rings of mine from college that I gave her many years ago, plus a ring I got specifically for her long ago as well, so I got her a really nice silver ring with an interwoven Celtic knot as an engagement ring. I also got wedding bands for both of us from the same shop (same one I used back in the 90s during college)... THAT'S LIKE HALF THE NECESSARY PLANNING FOR A WEDDING, EH? Sweeeeet.

PROPOSAL... COMPLETE.
ENGAGEMENT... INITIATED.
WEDDING... IMMINENT (relatively).

Wheee!

May. 17, 2009 | 4:40 PM Sir-Nuts says:

Congrats on the engagement, Greg!

May. 18, 2009 | 7:12 PM gfoxcook responds:

Why thank you! I meant to post about it in LUL yesterday as well, but didn't end up even posting once. I'll rectify that tonight.

May. 21, 2009 | 11:08 PM idiot-buster says:

hey Greg i just wanted to congratulate you before the 10 limit is hit and it looks like i'm number 2. But i wanted to do this before i don't look on the site for a few weeks :::i am takeing a hiatus to pick up my grades and such so i wanted to do this while i'm online and not being a lazy ass as my usual self::: I am contemplating wether to retire or not. This takes up so much of my time. i might do what you do and show up every month and make some "catch up posts" but time will tell.

May. 22, 2009 | 7:53 AM gfoxcook responds:

Thanks! I think you misunderstood my stalker quota, however. The 10 stalker limit is on stalkers attending our actual wedding ceremony. There's no limit on posting in my profile. Come now. #;-}>

Yeah, try the ol' gfox method. It's a winner!

May. 22, 2009 | 5:50 AM RohantheBarbarian says:

Hey Greg, congratulations on the engagement, I hope you'll be very happily married.

May. 22, 2009 | 7:54 AM gfoxcook responds:

Thank you! Well, we've been happily living together for 8 of our 9 years together, so... all signs point to yes. #;-}>

May. 22, 2009 | 4:35 PM idiot-buster says:

Oh looks like i need to read the statement better, not much has changed. I do want to post alot right this moment and back to my stat whorish ways on posting. But i said i would return june 12th the last day of my final exams. But i keep getting getting sucked into this place like it has something over me. So if you have any suggestions that would help alot, i find myself just browing the forums almost every day >.<

May. 24, 2009 | 7:55 PM gfoxcook responds:

Just... come by the BBS only on weekends? Try that for starters.

Going from 7 times a week to just 1 or 2 or 3 (if you must come by Friday/Saturday/Sunday) times a week will be a dramatic reduction and give you way more time for other non-posting-on-NGBBS habits/hobbies/tasks/duties/whate ver during the rest of the week. Give it a try.

May. 28, 2009 | 2:41 AM iscrulz says:

Well you should get the Lincoln's Repeater when you go into the Museum of History. If the Deathclaws don't pwn you then go ahead and get the Vengeance use the Alien Blaster or other ridiculously modded gun if you have to.

No I like the blue aura and I am sticking with it. I've grown accustom to its mismatchery. So will you be wedded in a park or a traditional church tell me where so I can come crash the reception and steal teh food.

Edguy is a power metal band formed by Tobias Sammet when he was 14. They are much better than Judas Priest and Dio.

Where did RR go?

Jun. 7, 2009 | 11:10 PM gfoxcook responds:

FO3: Yeah, I haven't even gotten to the Museum yet. I've been nearby, but not in it. I haven't even gone to Galaxy News Radio yet. Well, I went once, pwned some newbs (aka Super Mutants) and then reloaded, because I didn't want to advanced the plot. I'm so overleveled for this early in the game, it's not funny. I think I'm level 16 or so? And I haven't met Three Dog yet. heh.

Anyway, fun times. I'd love to find both those guns, and so I SHALL. I've pwned Deathclaws, but... I dunno how many are guarding the Vengeance at once. Only fought one or two at a time.

NG: Blue aura's fine, but... just arguing it's #2 to green for all time in my eyes, that's all. #;-}>

Weddin': Dunno where yet.

Edguy: Ah. BETTER THAN JUDAS PRIEST AND DIO? BLASPHEMER.

RR: Dunno! Your guess is as good as mine.

OMG GFOX IS GETTING MARRIED!! There's so much to be done! *puts on a party hat and tosses white ribbon everywhere* *puts a big white cake on the table* *grabs an altar and sets it down almost crushing gfoxcook* Sorry. :(

Now to call... u gettin'm married in a church? If so, *starts typing "priests" in Yellowpages search*

And also: I started using computers when I was 4, mainly to play my favorite Hotwheels game.

Jun. 7, 2009 | 11:10 PM gfoxcook responds:

O_O Like I told iscrulz, not sure where yet. But thanks for your... enthusiasm. #;-}>

Always good to start young, yes.

Jun. 10, 2009 | 5:42 PM darknessdweller says:

Yes, I guess it is kind of early to plan a marriage if it's 35# days away, right?

And yes it is. The earliest memory of using a computer I have is a cloudy day when
I was 4. The only computer we had was in the exact same spot as I'm typing from now, and I'd play my Hotwheels game for awhile, go on the swings, Hotwheels game, swings, then mayve dinner.

Jun. 15, 2009 | 9:48 PM gfoxcook responds:

I'm sure some people plan their weddings more than a year in advance. Ours will not be a spectacular affair, and as such, won't require months of planning, of that much I am already sure.

Is that the earliest memory of your childhood, as well? Or do you have earlier ones?

My earliest memory is my sister being born when I was 3, nearly 4, is why I ask. And it has been since I was a teen. And it's not really a full memory anymore. More of a memory of having that memory of the delivery room at the hospital, and now knowing that I once remembered it more fully. Ah, the human mind.

Anyway, good stuff. A LIFE OF RICHNESS FILLED WITH COMPUTING.

Jun. 14, 2009 | 9:38 PM NewsReporter says:

If I heard about your engagement sooner, I would have made this the main story of that day. I don't know why Bahamut didn't tell me about this. Maybe he has something against me. Do you have anything against me?

Also, that darknessdweller kid needs to pipe down.

Jun. 15, 2009 | 9:49 PM gfoxcook responds:

Well, you apparently learned of my engagement exactly ONE month to the day of my proposal to my honey! Anywho. You coulda... just... belatedly congratted me instead of wishing you could have made it a news story, yanno. #;-}>

Jun. 19, 2009 | 8:55 PM darknessdweller says:

Nah, I do have other memories of my life before age 6.

Liek, when I was at the beach and my told me that my dad had a heart attack, then I later saw him in the Emergency Room.

I THINK I remember a cloudy day of my mom driving me Southbound down a road that I've used possibly 0VER 9000 times since then.

And there was the big kid at soccer practice who always bullied me, who I later had a nightmare about, a nightmare of which, I remember clearly beginning to end.

Oh, there's so many.

Jun. 20, 2009 | 9:47 AM gfoxcook responds:

You mean before age 4? You said "The earliest memory of using a computer I have is a cloudy day when I was 4." and I wanted to know if that's also your earliest memory period. Of course that was before age 6.... so I'm gonna assume you meant to type 4 there as otherwise.... yeah. #;-}>

Whoa. Nifty memories, man. Make posts with content more like that than what you usually do in Level up! Lounge and I'll wager you'd have a much better reputation on Wi/Ht?.

Also... Interesting that you remember both a bully from your childhood PLUS a nightmare from back then as well. Musta made an impression indeeeeed.

Jun. 21, 2009 | 11:07 AM gfoxcook responds:

Yeah, man. Watch out or my stats'll cut you. O_O

Anyway, hardly get any stats yourself till 2012, and then go crazy for a couple years and keep at it for a total of 6 years till 2018, and you could have stats exactly like this by then. #;-}>

Jun. 22, 2009 | 4:00 AM iscrulz says:

Well I watch Friday 6/19 Tonight Show and witness the genesis of Coco. I am going to buy a dvr if I can remember it. Well I just fired up my dvd recorder so I can check the first two segments.

It is eating me inside waiting for Fallout 3 DLC to come to the PS3. Why I am I constantly so uptight. Daily life is strangled by my stress. So why do I feel so numb. Is it the helpless hysteria.

Edguy is unarguably better than Dio. I just hate Judas Priest.

Jun. 23, 2009 | 8:05 PM gfoxcook responds:

His new Co-Co nickname's been mentioned in at least 6 eps in the first three weeks, actually. All three of the Twitter nights (once per week, I hope they don't keep that up... it'll get stale within another week or so at this rate) + with other guests (Tom Hanks on the 2nd night, for example).

Anyway, get the DVR if you can, but if you'd rather be lazy and/or save the cash, you can just use the NBC website. Win/win. #;-}>

(GASP)

No lie, I'm actually listening to Judas Priest right now. I was going to listen to some Iron Maiden about 10 mins ago after listening to U2 for about an hour, but I hadn't listened to any Priest in a few months, so I put on Screaming for Vengeance, and I'm about 4 songs in right now. What a coincidence.

P.S. YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMIN'.

I glance at/scan the review list, review response list, audio review list, and audio review response list... but since there are FOUR threads as a result and since I hardly review at all in either portal, I'm just not that active in participating in the threads. Rest assured, though, I still look at the list updates. I just don't wanna make a post thanking ya for the update and not having anything else to add, which is usually the case. #;-}>

Jun. 25, 2009 | 4:03 AM iscrulz says:

After I left the comment I knew I was wrong about Coco. Some episode in maybe first week the audience yells Coco and Conan says I hope it doesn't catch on, at that time the masses latched to it. So the wild animals + Conan = instant classic. R.I.P. Steve Irwin. R.I.P. Americas sidekick Ed McMahon.

Okay let me show you how Edguy and Judas Priest fair on the coolness scale

Edguy, Dream Theater, Helloween, Stratovarius and Scar Symmetry> Iron Maiden > Blind Guardian> other bands > Judas Priest > A brain dead retard humming > U2 > nothing.

YAY I got the Classroom 3 Perfectionist medal. Now I stuck on OCD+

Jun. 27, 2009 | 11:05 AM gfoxcook responds:

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't an audience dude but rather Tom Hanks that started the Coco craze. In at least 5-10 shows since then, the audience has either started up a COCO chant or one or two loud dudes in the audience have yelled Coco, and that's when Conan makes another "if that catches on, I'm DONE in this town" joke.

Yeah, the wild animals were fun.

.... Your coolness scale sucks ass, but I think you already knew that. HTH.

What, you'd never looked at it before? #;-}> I assume you mean for the first time since I updated it around 6/20 or 6/21, whenever it was. Yeah, I noticed that about you, but I don't think I noticed it about Wylo. Pretty epic stuff, mate.

Which was worse to you? The Red Wings losing or you losing your regular status at around 3.8 years in?

Jun. 25, 2009 | 2:12 PM darknessdweller says:

Actually, to make it easier on myself, I typed 6, and meant to say 6. I put 6 there
because I wanted to add more in there. Speaking of being 6, and talking about it on NG, I had a dream last Winter that I remembered creating a Newgrounds account in 2002, and got back on it. I was 6 in 2002 though. In the dream, my account was level 3, and had 6 Blams 3 Saves. I'll tell moar of that dream at gfox's request.

ALSO:
You really think that a comment such as my pervious one left here would be the kind of stuff they'd want in the Wi/Ht? and LUL? Because all I did was type without internet acronyms/abbreviations, yet I still used a meme. Are you sure that's really corrext?

Jun. 27, 2009 | 11:09 AM gfoxcook responds:

kay... Sounds like a nice 3 + 6y dream there, dude.

Yes, I think a comment such as the previous one you left here is superior to most of your posts in LUL, that's why I said it. And it has nothing to do with you typing without acronyms, it was the tone of your posting, man. What you did was type without constant whimsy, you actually told a little story. meme-filled story, doesn't matter. A story nonetheless. A story that didn't invite ridicule. At least, not immediately. #;-}>

Just a little protip for you there. But if you're really that incredulous and don't believe me, then... eh, I ain't gonna work too hard to convince you. You do whatever you think you should do, and leave it at that. But... don't complain about how people react to you, eh?

I am sorry

Jul. 1, 2009 | 9:38 PM gfoxcook responds:

At least you remember the 90s, unlike the 80s. WE SHOULD BE SAFE.

Is what still going on? Co-Co references? Eh, sure. Not every night, though. For some reason, my DVR failed to record Monday and Tuesday nights' shows, like it failed 2 weeks ago on a Monday night. Dunno what's going on, maybe they retitled it from just "Tonight Show" on the program guide to "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien"... that type of namechangery bullshit always fucks with the DVR programming.

Your coolness scale may be right on in SOME aspects, but it said a braindead retard humming was > U2, which is just wrong, man. You gonna start U2 bashing to get me upset like Bahamut used to get when you FF bash? Too bad, it ain't gonna work. #;-}>

Not sure whether it´s the edge´s fault or a technical error though (Bono says something to a guy called Terry or something in the beginning).

It's very plain-looking, but so are a lot of them. That's the problem with SINGLE COLOUR weapons like that, even if it's shiny gold.
