The redesign: Visually nifty, lots of great potential. 60 level system rockin', though I'll always wish I'd gotten to level 24 and 25, but... getting to level 22 was good.

I miss the old NG already. And yes, I was here for at least two or three other NGs prior to the last NG. But the final pre-CSS NG will probably hold the softest spot in my heart for many a year to come.

I realise the profiles have been telling us base VPs up to this point, Yoinkers. That's not the issue I was posting about in the VP thread or whatever you were responding to... it's how the glitch and post-glitch VPedness have been strange in light of comparing gfoxcook to gfoxclock and gfox.

Yes, I've seen numerous posts talking about that bit in the FAQ. But if you're responding to my comments about how the VPs are not reacting as I think they should in some thread on the BBS... then you're missing the point, as so many others have.

My two alts, gfoxclock and gfox, have NO WHISTLE POWER. They're both at normal. Both of them have a higher base AND total VP now than they did pre-redesign.

Meanwhile, gfoxcook has 8.12 base VP and 12.99 total VP (a few days ago, 8.11 and 12.98)... which is the exact same VP this account had BEFORE the redesign, despite the fact that I've long been in possession of a deity whistle (strong near-gold silver prior to whistle system rescaling).

From NGlog, still stuck on the day before the redesign (http://nglog.denvish.net/browse.php?id=127):

Experience: 17280 (1211 until level 23)
Base Voting Power: 8.11 (60% B/P Bonus)

The one thing the new NG is missing that the old RG had... is the ability to not only see all the comments/responses in your own userpage... but to see all of the comments you've LEFT for others, and their responses, all in one spot. That would be awesome.

Like I said on the BBS, your level icon looks so damned cool mostly BECAUSE of the gold aura. The gold background + the black scythe together = awesomeness. I don't think that would look as good with any of the other auras. For most levels, though, I still think green looks best.

No, the saves won't be hard to get, per se.... but they'll still take me a long time. If it wasn't for Clock Day 07 and 08, in fact... I wouldn't feel comfortable guessing it will take a year. #;-}> More like 2....

It wasn't that long ago that I was level 40, myself. Look up at the top of this news post. It was July 2007, right after the redesign was released on 7/17/07. Once you hit your "next cool level" of 39, then you're getting really close to mostly good levels ahead, just like me. CHIN UP!

The main way aside from getting stats that you can do that is by posting in the thread before I do that update. As in, soon before, not now. It will help to be reminded of people who weren't on the list before but should be on the final list, so I don't leave anyone off.

I ain't an artist on NG, so I don't have NG-related news, really. So I just leave this post commemorating the redesign release on 7/17/07 and my "before and after" stats as my one and only newspost. It's the same for both my alts, gfoxclock and gfox. That's just a decision I made pretty early on, as I hinted at in one of my responses up above this one. :::shrugs:::

If I want to post a "news post," I post it in the pentalist thread on Wi/Ht? on the BBS.

Not 36,000. 36 itself. I want 36,000 saves because it enables me to still participate in the portal (I was retired at 24k and 36k saves and blams respectively for about 1.5 years or so, and rather than blam/save exclusively for my alt, I chose to restart saving movies with this account). The goal is 36k on both stats because 36 is my favourite/lucky number.

I haven't done any audio reviews in years, but if I start up again, I'll try to remember to head to your songs first. Good enough? Hope so.

If I make a new news post, it will hide this post, which shows all my "old NG stats" at the moment of the NG redesign, the most drastic change to NG stat systems since I began using NG every day in January of 2003. I noticed that topic, but most of the screenies you mention in there sound like general NG things, not stuff particularly about your own account. Most of my new (and old) screenies are about my own statliness. But I'm sure I have SOME old screenies that are just funny or old NG stuffs, or old top 50 exp list screenies and the like.

I'll take a look, but all the old screenshots are on my old desktop from 1997, so... I'll either have to try and post them from there (probably not a good idea)... or else transfer them to this laptop first. Either way, don't hold your breath!

Tom Fulp sent me a free NG t-shirt and 5 NG stickers back when I was a mod, and I've never actually used the stickers as I'm not a huge sticker-using-person, so... no need to buy some. It's the one NG stat (aside from audio/flash submission stats) that I don't care about! (gasp, I know)

Believe it or not, but the main purpose of being a mod is to moderate threads on the BBS. If you're not going to do that, there's really no point to it. As I've said many times, the only things I miss about it are A) my name being lovely green on the BBS listings, and B) being able to post more than 4 times in a thread in a half-hour.

That was never appealing to me. It's a bit elitist to have as your favourite forum the one place on the site where less than 1% of the membership can post. It's like a stuffy country club. Okay, not really, but when most of the people I enjoy talking to are on Wi/Ht?, why would I have ever spent much time on another forum?

This may shock and confuse you, but back in 2002 and 2003 and 2004, it took 100 votes to get to a blam or a save. Instead of 50 votes for most blams nowadays and 200 votes for all saves.

Do the math. There used to be way more blams than saves available.

I actually had 6000 saves and 6000 blams at the same time. But I retired on October 10th, 2005, for 1.5 years (from saving) at 24,000 saves and 36,000 blams. Which at the time was an amazing amount of saves. I was #1 in saves, in fact.

So no, I don't "only vote on stuff that is bad." In fact, as I just hinted at above, I haven't blammed a movie since October 2005. My blams have been at 36,000 since then (I got all thirty-fucking-six thousand of them between January 2003 and October 2005, believe it or not). I've only gained saves since then, all from May 2007 to May 2008 (all 2,600 or so of them so far, I'm trying to get my saves up to 36,000).

I guess you're kinda new, since you signed up after the redesign, but if you spent any time on Wi/Ht?, or spent anytime on either the top 50 saves list or top 50 blams list in the "Rankings" section of NG, you'd notice there are other users with 70,000 blams and 30,000 saves, for example.

Still think *I* have a lot of blams?

Damned USPS didn't deliver on the 7th as they'd been indicating via tracking on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and yes... even the 8th (but hey, it was Sunday). Finally arrived (and told the truth on the tracking page!) today, the 9th.

I knew it wasn't gonna be at my apartment office on Saturday when I went and checked, anyway, though.... the tracking did admit it had just gotten to Dallas at 11AM that morning. Post office doesn't get stuff from Dallas to Houston on a Saturday afternoon, I don't think. #;-}>

2) a lack of interest in depositing

I was a fan of Zekey from his first flash (TEH DISILLUSIONED PIRATE) back in the summer of 2003, I think it was. He appreciated me reviewing and enjoying his flashes, and the rest is history.

I was a mod between 2003-2007, when I retired. I used to post on General a lot (2003-2004). If I was ever famous outside of Wi/Ht? (which you presumably don't know about/go to on the BBS), it was back then, on General, as a mod.

Hope that answers your questions, the Zekey part and the "famous" part needed separate answers, because Zekey wasn't the first person to comment on my profile because I was "famous" once. O_o
