"I BARELY GOT THIS REVIEW IN... [742]"

submission: `
date: August 15, 2008

... before the "exactly 2 years since submitted" whistle sounded, I mean. BEAT IT BY LESS THAN 1.5 HOURS. HOLY SHIT.

Now this is much better. That's the Mario sprite that looks better with teh Sonic graphics. :::noddles:::

One of the cheesier 80s songs (and... that's both not saying much and also saying a whole lot all at once, somehow O_O), but not one of the songs I HATE from the 80s, so... the fittingness with Sonicspins works well. Hah, the message about how long the viewer will watch Sonic spin just popped up. Well, as long as I've got it open to the side of this notepad window while I type out this review, of course. #;-}>

Hahaha, it just passed 666 on the counter. Excellent!

ALMOST THERE!....

1000. Boom. Headshot.

This just in, folks: ` >>>>>>>> :

Everyone's favourite punctuation mark.... NOT!

It's really weird seeing lil' mini-sized 8-bit Mario not only next to 16-bit Sonic... but in Sonic's 16-bit backgrounded world.

Not that seeing 16-bit Sonic in Mario's 8-bit SMB1 world would be any better.

I think Mario sprites/backgrounds from Super Mario World from the SNES would go more hand-in-hand with any Sonic 1/2/3 sprites/backgrounds. THAT IS TEH ULTIMATE.

Fairly fun music, though. Boy, that Sonic loves to spin to teh SOAD.

August 15, 2008

Author's Response:

Luckily, the SNES Mario sprites were on the later episodes. :)

... BETWIXT TEH NR AND TEH OMEGA, anyway?

OMG, it's HypnoNewsReporterToad. He's my favourite NG flash animation character EVAR.

You know, the Hypnotoad feature on the Bender's Big Score DVD did feature a few breaks from the constant hypnotoadery. This.... doesn't seem to. Unless you count the oh-so-subtle vote fifen and Omega birthday wishes and review plz messages. #;-}>

... which I don't!

Still. I love the sound. I actually alt-tabbed away for a couple minutes and just listened to the sound.

It's experimental ambient industrial/electronica at its finest!

And thus, this flash is the WIN after all. FULL MARKS ALL AROUND.

August 15, 2008

Author's Response:

HypnoNewsReporterToad should replace Tankmen.

"NEW news reporter? [739]"

submission: News Reporter V
date: August 14, 2008

HELL NO, WE WON'T GO. Omega 2 FTL. ;_;

He even stole NR's Coffee Rocks! mug. ;_;

But it's 9AM, so the morning/evening cycle continues, with all odd episodes being in the morning, and all even ones at night.

OMG, yer subtitles didn't match up to the actual text for a second there. You said "hired," but the text said "re-hired."

NR.... flipping out... singing while Omega 'n' Bahamut have a little chat. INSANITY. Fun, though. Fire Exit is marked in green instead of red? O_O

Well, I've only lived in two countries, and can't recall from visiting 30 other countries, but in Japan and the US, almost all fire exit signs are in red (some in white with red text, maybe)... now REGULAR exit signs are often in green light... but that's different.

</picky>

Good ep, good ep. But nothing has touched #1's greatness so far.

August 15, 2008

Author's Response:

Yeah, I messed up the subtitles here and there, but they were just minor errors to me, so I wasn't bothered about them.

Thanks for all those wonderful reviews gfox! :D

"BEYOND THE TRILOGY... [738]"

submission: News Reporter IV

... THERE IS A VOID.

HOTCHOCOLATE? eh? The pattern of coffee/tea/coffee is broken now.

But the pattern of AM report/PM report/AM report/PM report continues... AT LEAST THERE'S SOMETHING WE CAN STILL COUNT ON... something we can still depend upon.

Why are Coop and Jake hanging about? Are they attention whores trying to be on camera out the window, or are they stalking NR?

Most people you feature in the background through the window... don't just... stand there... staring straight in through the glass. IT'S CREEPY. ;_;

LOL! NR's too busy with the McCann stuffs to notice local earthquakes. Excellent. And hey, a WELL-WRITTEN fight between Bahamut and News Reporter. I dig it!

And finally, you try to stop him watching soaps, too!

Good thing he loves reality shows and other stuff, too, right?

.... oh wait..... OOOPS. COULDN'T HELP YOURSELF, COULD YA, NEWSMAN. OH WELL.

August 15, 2008

Author's Response:

Coop and Jake just wanted to watch the news reporter. GOT A FUCKING PROBLEM WITH THAT?!?!

News Reporter III

"... part 3 of the saga. [737]"

submission: News Reporter III
date: August 14, 2008

Well, I'm liking things so far (judging from the icon next to "watch this movie," COFFEE ROCKS MUG IS BACK... yes? YES? ... :::sees it on the desk::: YES IT IS! WOOT!)...

8:14AM this time.... that's more of an un-ungodly hour than the first one took place at. Much better.

NR-NEWS is shaping up to be far superior to B-NEWS. Gotta love the Al-Pacino-sounding "total destruction" clip, too.

Why would News Reporter laugh at Blue Hippo for being trapped inside rubble and not able to escape? Sure, he might find it interesting... but it seems out of character for him to actively LAUGH at that. ;_;

This flash is destroying my beliefs in News Reporter.

And.... I.... LIKE IT.

But I do remember that explosion. But I don't remember why Omega wants to kill you.... or wanted to... back then (which makes it sound like you WEREN'T killed, BTW...). And now at the end of this one, you claim Omega will kill News Reporter for watching soap operas. SO MUCH MURDEROUS IMPULSE WITHIN THAT OMEGA FELLOW.

I totally saw the suspension coming, but I figured you would reinstate him and work his ass off in the studio as soon as you found out NR planned on watching EVERY DAMNED EPISODE OF A SOAP OPERA once he got home. ;_;

So... hm... is good, is good. A slight rebound from the drop last time. I LIKE. IS GOOD.

August 15, 2008

Author's Response:

That 'Total Destruction' voice is Paul Page, who did the commentary for Destruction Derby 2.

You'll find out soon enough why Omega hates me.

News Reporter II

"Sequels... can be tricky... [736]"

submission: News Reporter II
date: August 14, 2008

Or they can be masterful, such as Empire Strikes Back.... or Dark Knight... or Terminator 2/Aliens to a lesser degree (tons of fun, though not as artful a sequel as the original, either of 'em).

Wait... Mickey Mouse wasn't already running the White House? That's... NEWS TO ME.

OMG, Bahamut. You're way louder with your filthy potty mouth in this flash than in the first one. I had to turn down my speakers (after having to turn them up to even HEAR News Reporter in the first one). ;_;

Weird how News Reporter takes 2x as long strides with his wonky legs when he's "walking slowly."

Less interesting stuff going on in the background out the windows... less interesting news headlines... and way more cursing between Bahamut/News Reporter with less funny = a somewhat disappointed sequel after the greatness of #1. ;_;

However, this does feature some insane (albeit offscreen) violence to make up for all the above. Excellent.

But then it also has an upside-down Tea Mug instead of a rightside-up Coffee Rocks mug. ;_;

It's such a mixed bag, like the poison-laden donut Homer eats in that Simpsons ep where all the restauranteurs in Springfield are trying to assassinate him after he becomes a hard-ass food critic.

So... I have to dock News Reporter II down from the 9 it coulda had... to an 8. But the series started off on a 10, so let's see how it goes as we proceed to...........

News Reporter

"Finally... IT BEGINS... [735]"

submission: News Reporter
date: August 14, 2008

First... the main question on everyone's mind: Once I've reviewed these News Reporter episodes, will I receive News Reporter comments on all three of my profiles? STAY TUNED, BAHA-FANS.

Another question: Did News Reporter find Satan's destruction of Mars.... interesting?

Also: Does News Reporter know he's pronouncing "debut" horribly, horribly wrong at the start of this flash?

LOL! Gotta love the view outside his studio's windows. NBC's Today Show in Times Square it ain't. I also love how he doesn't even bother to fall asleep from the boredom of the Prime Minister Pikachu report (which is about as generic a political news headline as you can get, really!)... on his fuckin' comfy-looking anchor chair! He just collapses on the floor! hhahah. oh god...

P.S. I find the way News Reporter walks from place to place... interesting. o_o

P.P.S. Coffee DOES rock, News Reporter. Coffee does indeed rock.

August 15, 2008

Author's Response:

News Reporter will talk to you later. Right now, he's gotta make a report on Clock Day.

Yes, he did find the Mars destruction interesting.

Yes, he's aware of that.

I'm drinking coffee right now. :)

"And now I'm officially current on E'n'L... [734]"

submission: Edgar N' Locke 07
date: August 12, 2008

Oh boy.... Dragonforce ep, eh? Well, what a good way to reach the end of this particular reviewing spree. See, I've still got about another dozen of your movies to review, but I'm gonna take a break for a day or two and review the rest before (or on) Clock Day.

It IS like Nintendo music, Shadow. THAT'S THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT. VG metal FTW!!! Terra... come on, now. Whew. TERRA J/K FTW... sorta.

LOL! Gogo meets Borat: "Dragonforce mimic themselves... I LIKE!" Well said, GogoBorat. Well said. That cannot be denied, after all.

Hahahah... soldiers... such bandwagon-jumpers. My gf doesn't like Dragonforce, BTW, but I've played TTFAF on GH3 enough times in the living room with the volume up while she was TRYING to ignore it over here on the desktop PC... to the point that if I play it from the CD in the car, she complains at first, but then she's singing along with most of the song. #;-}>

To be fair, she says she enjoys the vocals (lyrical silliness is part of the appeal of the vocals, I think, and the singer's voice isn't bad for metal), she just can't handle the 3-4 minute superfast guitar solos. They start to wear her down. #;-}>

Anyway, Edgar and Locke, of course, had the most comprehensive and reasonable assessments of the band. The band ain't great, but they've got a couple good songs (and some bad ones... yet all their songs sound the same... HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?).

You shoulda used Cry for Eternity in the flash (along with TTFAF as the solo, as you did), IMO. Valley of the Damned is okay but nothing special. Cry for Eternity's right up there with TTFAF in terms of 8 minute enjoymints and actually has a lot more variety from start to finish, especially in the long solo/instrumental passages in the 40-80% range (ALL 7-8 MINUTE DRAGONFORCE SONGS HAVE THE SAME SOLO AREAS, IT'S AMAZING!). PLEASE TO BE HAVING MOAR CRY FOR ETERNITY!

:::presses the TTFAF solo button and enjoys::: LATER, DRAGON!

August 13, 2008

Author's Response:

"..and review the rest before (or on) Clock Day."

HURRAY!

lol at your gf's reactions to DragonForce.

Nah, Valley of the Damned had to be here, simply because many overlook their first two albums and they really shouldn't overlook Valley of the Damned. So that's why I added the song Valley of the Damned to this flash. :)

submission: Edgar N' Locke 06

Is that Relm? LOL... good ol' metal standards... Green Day and RHCP... well, at least she mentioned fairly good rock bands as being metal instead of crappy rock bands... (or worse yet... crappy faux-metal bands, eh?).

Ed-GAHR. Heh... such overpronunciation funs. #;-}>

OMG... soloooooooooooooooo? Nice new feature!

But wait... noooo, not Megadeth. They can't even spell properly. ;_; Oh, well at least it's Hangar 18, which I know from one of the early Guitar Hero games, and it's decent enough. :::nods:::

Yeah, come to think of it... the main thing I don't like about Megadeth is the vocals, and.. uh... solos don't tend to have any vocals (beyond perhaps a few grunts, "ah"s or "yeah"s every now and then, I suppose, depending on the band).

CITIZENS DEMAND MOAR "COWBOYS FROM HELL" FOR NEXT SOLO. But then again, it's the chorus I want to hear in that... Eh. It's all good.

August 13, 2008

Author's Response:

Of course it's Relm. :)

Megadeth rule, and who cares about how death is spelt. :P

You'll hear Cowboys from Hell in the near future, BUT THERE WILL NOT BE A FEATURED RIFF, OK?!

Anyway, thanks for all these reviews gfox. :)
